Randy Allen
Senior Vice President, Computing Solutions
Randy Allen is senior vice president, Computing Solutions Group, AMD. Reporting to President and COO Dirk Meyer, Allen is responsible for the development and management of AMD’s broad and growing portfolio of consumer and commercial microprocessor solutions and platforms.
Previously, Allen served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager for AMD’s Server and Workstation Business. In this role, Randy led AMD’s server business’ financial performance, business planning, silicon and platform planning, product management, and brand management. Prior to that, Allen was AMD’s vice president for Design Engineering where he was responsible for the silicon design engineering of AMD’s microprocessor and chipset products.
Allen joined AMD in 1984, and during his more than twenty-year career with the company, he has led several teams, including the implementation team of the AMD Athlon™ microprocessor and the design team for the AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ 64 microprocessor and associated chipsets.
Previous to AMD, Allen worked as a design engineer at Hewlett-Packard, where he worked for the HP3000 Business Computer development team.
Allen earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
