Skype 2.0.0.97 veröffentlicht

Das Internet-Telefonie-Tool Skype ist in der Version 2.0.0.97 für Windows 2000/XP erschienen.

Neben den klassischen Skype-Features der VoIP-Telefonie und des Instant-Messaging besteht die zentrale Neuerung gegenüber früheren 1.x Versionen in einer nunmehr in die Skype-Software integrierten Möglichkeit zur Videokommunikation. Bisher war dies nur mit dem 3rd-Party Plugin <a href="http://www.festooninc.com" target="b">Festoon</a> (vormals vSkype) möglich.

Seit Veröffentlichung der Version 2.0 wurden nun innerhalb kurzer Zeit zahlreiche kleinere Updates veröffentlicht, bei denen es sich im wesentlichen um Fehlerkorrekturen handelte.

Für sehr kontroverse <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=255188">Diskussionen</a> sorgte zuletzt die Ankündigung der Skype-Entwickler, bestimmte Features des neuen 2.0 Clients ausschließlich Nutzern mit Intel Dual-Core CPUs zugänglich zu machen (<a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=1&id=1139497752">wir berichteten</a>).
