"Store and Forward" bei RJ-45 Netzwerk???

Hallo ihr lieben Forumskollegen!
Was bitte ist "Store and Forward"?
Diese nette Einstellung hab ich für "
MA Burst Length" (mögliche Werte: 8, 16, 32, ..., 256 DWORDS und eben S.+R.), sowie bei "Recieve Threshold" (32 bis 1024 bytes und S.+R.) und "Transmit Threshold".
Alles hängt an nem 10/100 Switch. Karten sind alle 10/100 mit FDX.
Läuft auch im S.+R.-Modus. Weiß bloß nicht, was das ist. Der Switch unterstützt es also, auch wenns im Handbuch nicht steht.
Weiß hier einer der Cracks, worums dabei geht?

Burst Lenght
Programmable burst length. Indicates the Maximum number of
longwords to be transferred in one DMA transaction. Changing this parameter may affect the device performance. The more longwords per burst the better the adapter performance will be.
Transmit Threshold
Controls the transmit threshold of the MAC controller. The
MAC-controller starts transmitting data after the data
read from the Host computer to the FIFO at the controller
exceeds the threshold. The smaller the threshold the better
the transmitting performance is. However, a smaller threshold will cause the adpater card to access the PCI bus more often.As a result, it increases the possibility of transmitter FIFO under-run. In some machines it could cause many packets to be lost."

Alles klar. Also bei den Thresholds (=Hemmschwelle) einen niedrigen Wert, damit die Verzögerung geringer ist (delay time).
Beim DMA Buffer ein hoher Wert, logo.
Das mit dem Store and Forward lass ich wohl lieber bleiben.... sicher ist sicher. Never change a running system! wobei eigentlich beides geht....
