Der VideoLAN <a href="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/" target="b">VLC media player</a> - ein universeller Multiformat-Mediaplayer, der nicht nur Filme bereits anspielen kann, während sie noch heruntergeladen werden (und deshalb bei Filesharing-Freunden sehr beliebt ist), sondern auch die Möglichkeit bietet, selbst Filme ins Netz zu streamen - ist in der neuen Version 0.8.6 erschienen.
Der VLC media player unterstützt bereits von Haus aus unzählige Audio- und Video-Codecs und wird für eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Betriebssysteme bereitgestellt. Eine Übersicht der bereits integrierten Codecs und der unterstützten Plattformen zeigt eine <a href="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html" target="b">Feature-Übersicht</a>. Also bei 98 SE weiß ich, dass der VLC bis einschl. zur Version 0.8.2 läuft - die neueren machen Ärger...
an sich find ich den player schon ziemlich cool...
nur der ressourcenverbrauch ist gerade bei xvid-kodierten videos mit subtitles nicht ganz ohne...aber das trifft auch auf den mplayer classic zu. ist also eigentlich eher die schuld des codecs.
Allerdings hat der VLC insgesammt nen höheren ressourcenverbrauch als der mpc...unterstüzt allerdings auch ein paar mehr codecs (aber nicht viel mehr)
fazit: für den alltagsgebrauch kann ich eher den mpc empfehlen, da der sparsamer ist. für exotische formate oder bei problemen mit dem mpc ist es nicht schlecht den vlc in der hinterhand zu haben

Mach ich genauso. Alle abspielbaren Formate mit dem MPC, Playlists mit Winamp, den Rest mit VLC. Aber DVDs guck ich trotzdem mit PowerDVD.

Wer wirklich mal nen Resourcen schonenden Media Player haben will, der auch noch ALLLES auf diesem Planten abspielt, ohne dass man auch nur einen Codec installiert haben muss, sollte sich mal den
MPLAYER
anschauen.
Ich kann diesen Hype für den VLC nicht nachvollziehen, in meinen Augen ist das Project total aufgebläht.

da müsste IMHO "MPEG-TS" stehen denn mit DVDs und S-/VCDs hatte ich bei diesem Punkt noch nie Probleme.
bei MPEG-TS Aufnahmen von meiner WinTV-Nova hatte ich bisher immer Probs mit der Zeitangabe.
