Das kostenlose Monitoring-Programm Process Explorer von Sysinternals/Microsft ist in der Version 12.01 verfügbar. Mit dem Programm lassen sich laufende Prozesse, welche je nach Berechtigungen farblich voneinander unterschieden werden können, überwachen. Dadurch lassen sich unerwünschte oder manipulierte Prozesse ausfindig machen, was das Programm zum wertvollen Helfer bei einem vermuteten Schädlingsbefall macht.
Das von Microsoft aufgekaufte Sysinternals stellt eine Reihe an nützlichen Programmen zur WIndows-Systemdiagnose zur Verfügung. Empfohlen seien an dieser Stelle auch die Programme <a href="http://www.planet3dnow.de/cgi-bin/newspub/viewnews.cgi?category=2&id=1257590550">Process Monitor</a>, <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897437.aspx" target="b">TCPView</a> und <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx" target="b">Autoruns</a>.
Process Monitor läuft unter Windows ab Windows XP.
