Mit dem Tool können Monitoring-Daten aus einer Vielzahl von Sensor-Chips ausgelesen werden (z.B. abit µ-Guru, Winbond und ITE Chips). Natürlich unterstützt das Programm auch das Auslesen der Temperatur-Dioden von Prozessoren und Grafikkarten, S.M.A.R.T. Werte werden ebenso erfasst.

Um alle Werte auslesen zu können, muss HWMonitor mit Administratorrechten gestartet werden.

Veränderungen:

* ACPI Thermal Zones support.
* FB-DIMM integrated thermal sensor (Intel® 5400A/B MCH only).
* New sensors ICs : Analog Device® ADM1021, ADM1027, ADM1030.

Das Tool unterstützt sowohl NVIDIA, als auch AMD (ATI) und benötigt keine Installation. Es ist unter Windows 2000, XP und Vista lauffähig, benötigt zur Ausführung allerdings die Rechte eines Administrators.

Bekannte Bugs:

* Crash on Pre-GF 6 Cards
* Shader Default still shows MHz on ATI
* Multi GPU label always shows NVIDIA
* X1650 with device ID 7293 not detected properly
* 7950 GT with device ID 0295 not detected properly
* Hide Technology nm when not known
* Invalid Memory type detection on some ATI cards (2600 XT etc)
* Can't read driver version on Vista
