Von: Nero24 4. Februar 2002 Benchmarks As we mentioned in the beginning of our article we will only show you the relative performance of the different modes without absolute values. Sandra 2000SE Memory Streaming CPU ![]() Memory Streaming FPU ![]() As you can see 166 mhz memory clock at 2.5-3-3 is not that faster, than 133 mhz with 2-2-2. If you remember back to KT133, there it was similair (100 mhz vs. 133 mhz). With 2-2-2 timings the 166 mhz memory clock can offer better performances. Much faster than anything other is the synchronous system-/memory clock with 166 mhz. Clocking the unlocked TBird from 7.5 x 133 to 6.0 x 166 the system suddenly works like unchained and can drive out a lead up to 30 percent compared with the slowest 133 mode. Unfortunately AMD has no 166 mhz cpu in its palette, but all the overclockers out there will be delighted! When you wonder why there is written 165 mhz instead of 166 mhz: there were some problems when running the system with 166 mhz fsb. If that was the fault of our Athlon 1000C or of the early test release, we don't know. It was not possible to drive the system freeze-free with 166 mhz. Only 1 mhz below at 165 mhz we were able to run most of our tests, yet. If it was the board's fault, the bios programmers and board designers will for sure do fine tuning industriously before mass production. DiVX ;-) Berechnung über MMX-Unit ![]() With bandwidth sensitive FlaskMPEG DiVX encoder we see a different image to the streaming test. Here 133 mhz at 2-2-2 is faster, than 166 mhz with 2.5-3-3. Only 2-2-2 is a little bit faster and with 166 mhz fsb the system again gains a great lead. Anwendungen Packen mit WinACE ![]() The WinACE packer is a fan of short latencies and high memory bandwidth on the integer part. That's why we are not surprised, that the differences are greater here. Again 133 mhz with 2-2-2 timing is faster, than 166 mhz with 2.5-3-3 and again the system is running an outstanding pace when setting it to 166/166 mhz. The values are reciprocally, so even with WinACE here higher value is better. |
