ATI CATALYST 5.13

Release Notes:

    New Features

This section provides information on new features that are introduced in this release of Catalyst®. New features include:

    • H.264 Hardware Acceleration
    • ATI CrossFire™ Support for the ATI Radeon® X1800
    • HQV Video Benchmark Support

    H.264 Hardware Acceleration

Catalyst® 5.13 software suite introduces H.264 hardware acceleration for the ATI Radeon® X1800, X1600, and X1300 product line. H.264 is advanced video coding that provides significant reduction in bit-rate compared to standards such as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. The ATI Radeon® X1800, X1600, and X1300 products provide hardware acceleration for the playback of high-definition content that is encoded using H.264. Using the Catalyst® software suite 5.13, along with the Cyberlink H.264 decoder available from http://www.ati.com/technology/h264.html provides H.264 hardware acceleration.

ATI CrossFire™ Support for the ATI Radeon® X1800

ATI CrossFire™ allows for multiple Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to be placed within a single PC, to provide superior gaming performance. The Catalyst® 5.13 software suite is the first Catalyst® to provide ATI CrossFire™ support. CrossFire™ support is available when an ATI Radeon® X1800 CrossFire™ Edition product is installed with another Radeon® X1800 product. Further information on ATI CrossFire™ can be found at: http://www.ati.com/technology/crossfire/faq.html

    HQV Video Benchmark Support

The Catalyst® software suite 5.13 introduces full support for the HQV DVD Benchmark. These driver tweaks provide a better DVD image quality, and higher benchmark scores.

New:

  • Full support for single CPU, HyperThreaded (HT), dual CPU (SMP) and dual core processors. Encoding performance is improved up to 180% for HT CPUs and up to 250% for Dual Core + HT.
  • Mutlithreading is enabled in the DivX decoder for DirectShow when the option to 'Reduce CPU spikes using one frame delay' is enabled and post-processing is applied.
  • Optimizations have been added for processors supporting SSE2 extensions.
  • A new "High Performance" encoding mode has been added.
  • A new "1-Pass Target Quantizer" mode has been added.
  • The codec now includes a Lanczos resize filter for very sharp resizing.
  • The Feedback Window now displays VBV level and has variable axis for PSNR plots.
  • The Feedback Window now contains controls for changing VBV bitrate, performance mode and psychovisual enhancement in real time during encoding.
  • DivX High Definition profile now permits average bitrates of up to 6 Mbps.
  • MPEG quantization has been improved.
  • Brightness, contrast, and saturation controls are now respected by the DivX decoder for DirectShow.
  • The DivX decoder for DirectShow now respects the option to "Output YUV 4:2:0 when supported."
  • It is now possible to exclude the Settings Manager by using RegEdit to add the process name to the list under: HKLM\Software\DivXNetworks\DivX\SMExclusions.

Changed:
  • The performance of "Extreme Quality" and "Insane Quality" modes has been improved.
  • "Fastest" mode now achieves better compression and produces video compliant with certified encoding profiles.
  • Quarter-pixel motion estimation has been enhanced for performance and is now available in all modes from "Balanced" through "Insane quality" when "Unconstrained profile" is selected.
  • Item descriptions in the encoder GUI have been improved for all languages.
  • Generic MPEG-4 playback support has been improved.

Ahead Nero Burning Rom Update 7.0.14

Download:

*) CCC = CATALYST Control Center; Erläuterung siehe hier.

*) CCC = CATALYST Control Center; Erläuterung siehe hier.

Changelog: What's New in Omega Drivers?
v2.6.87

[*] Based on the Catalyst 5.12 Official drivers.

[+] Added support for 2560x1600 and 1600x1024 resolutions.

Known Issues:
1) Some of the settings for both D3D & OGL will not be synchronized between ATT and the normal ATI CP, you must only use one of them to make changes, the best option is to use ATT since the ATI CP does not support changes to AI and in order to use the advanced D3D/OGL features. Changes made in ATT will work on games and such but the changes will not be reflected in the normal ATI CP since ATI stores the registry values that the CP reads separate from the actual values in the registry.

2) If ATT refuses to run because your card is "Not Supported", edit the "atitray.ini" located in the Omega Drivers&ATT installation folder and change "opt_disable_ovr=0" to "opt_disable_ovr=1", this will disable Overclocking, but the rest of ATT can be used normally.

Important Info:
Since these drivers include a non-standard version of ATT, I would recommend that if you have any previous version of ATT installed, please uninstall it before installing these drivers, not doing so may cause unknown problems.

Optimierte BOINC-SETI Clients - Teil 4

    1. Stop the running Boinc Manager
    2. make a backup of your Boinc folder !!!
    3. The Download provides only the binary, the debug database and an app_info.xml. Make sure you know how to handle it (or simply rename the new binary to the name of setiathome executable in your projects folder.
    4. extract the files in the archive into your boinc folder to "../projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu".
    5. If you get a message containing something like "overwrite exiting files" select YES.
    6. Restart the Boinc Manager
