17:21 - Autor: pipinSystemRescueCd, eine auf Gentoo basierende Linux Boot-CD, ist in der Version 1.1.4 erschienen. Mit der CD können zahlreiche Aufgaben rund um das Bearbeiten und Erstellen von Partitionen vorgenommen werden. Dabei werden zahlreiche Dateisysteme unterstützt.Zu diesen gehören Ext2/Ext3, ReiserFS, Reiser4, XFS, JFS, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660, Samba und NFS. Das Changelog der aktuellen Version:

13:12 - Autor: crugerDer PDF-Betrachter Foxit Reader, eine Alternative zu dem weit verbreiteten Adobe Reader, ist in der Version 3.0 mit der Buildnummer 1222 erschienen und beseitigt diverse Fehler der Vorgängerversion.
Fixed in Foxit Reader 3.0 Build 12221. The annotations added by the typewriter tool will be rotated along with the page.
2. Popup "Mozilla Firefox is not installed." when users failed to install Firefox plug-in.
3. May take a long time to open a file in Windows Vista Home version.
4. This updated version allows users to delete the advertisements.
5. The Auto-Rotate feature may be unavailable when printing with Snapshot tool.
6. Go back to the default settings of the printer properties when users reopen the PDF files.
7. This updated version will choose to print documents in actual size mode or fit to paper mode based on the default settings in the print dialog box with Command lines.
8. Page numbers are printed in a disorderly way when printing multiple copies in double-side mode.
9. The slow launch speed when running Foxit Reader for the first time after the system startup.

23:43 - Autor: crugerDie Entwickler der Mozilla Foundation haben mit der Version 3.0.5 für den im Juni veröffentlichten Firefox 3 Webbrowser ein Update zum Download bereitgestellt.
In Kürze wird die neue Version auch über die Updatefunktion des Firefox Browsers verfügbar sein. Ein offizielles Changelog liegt derzeit noch nicht vor, sollte aber demnächst unter dem unten aufgeführten "Link zum Thema" veröffentlicht werden.

11:41 - Autor: pipinDie OpenSource-DVD, eine Zusammenstellung von derzeit 410 frei verfüg- und kopierbaren Programmen mit offenem Quellcode für den täglichen Einsatz, ist in der Version 12.0 erschienen. Darunter befinden sich auch brandaktuelle Versionen, etwa OpenOffice.org 3.0 oder Firefox 3.0.4. Die Änderungen gegenüber der Vorgänger-Version kann man dem offiziellen Changelog entnehmen.

01:33 - Autor: TiKuNach einigen Verzögerungen wurde nun die Version 0.3.7 des freien Betriebssystems ReactOS veröffentlicht.ReactOS ist der Versuch, ein Betriebssystem zu entwickeln, das kompatibel zu Microsoft Windows ist, sodass sich Windows-Treiber und -Programme verwenden lassen. Einige Windows-Programme funktionieren auch bereits, z. B. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 und OpenOffice.org 2.0. Das Changelog ist wie immer sehr umfangreich. Es wurden unzählige Bugs beseitigt - vor allem in den verschiedenen Kernel-Subsystemen und im Netzwerk-Stack. Ferner wurden an der Shell größere Arbeiten durchgeführt, zum Beispiel wurden viele Shell-Erweiterungen implementiert bzw. erweitert.
An der Portierung auf die x86-64-Architektur wurde ebenfalls weiter gearbeitet. Changelog in Kurzform:
- Improved x64 architecture support
- The start of a real MSVC compiler support project
- Kernel improvements and bugfixes in quite a few parts: Configuration Manager, IO Manager, KE, Memory Manager, Object Manager, Process Manager
- Network stack improvements: leakage fixes, increased functionality

- Win32 subsystem improvements and synching of most of the Wine usermode DLLs

12:27 - Autor: pipinDie erste Beta von Firefox 3.1 auf Basis der Gecko Rendering Engine 1.9.1 ist da. Wie üblich empfiehlt Mozilla diese Version allerdings nur Entwicklern und Testern, also nicht in Produktivumgebungen. Auch sind Neuerungen wie die Javascript-Engine Tracemonkey zwar vorhanden, müssen aber erst in der Konfiguration aktiviert werden. Tracemonkey soll einige JavaScript-Funktionen beschleunigen und damit das Browsen und Arbeiten mit Firefox verbessern. Um Tracemonkey zu aktivieren, muss man in der Adressleiste about:config eingeben und die Variable javascript.options.jit.content auf True setzen. Weitere Verbesserungen: - Web standards improvements in the Gecko layout engine
- Added support for CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 properties
- A new tab-switching shortcut that shows previews of the tab you’re switching to
- Improved control over the Smart Location Bar using special characters to restrict your search
- Support for new web technologies such as the video and audio elements, the W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, web worker threads, SVG transforms and offline applications.

20:01 - Autor: crugerNur wenige Tage nach Veröffentlichung der Version 3.0.2 haben die Mozilla-Entwickler ein weiteres Update des Open Source Webbrowsers Firefox veröffentlicht. Die Version 3.0.3 behebt einen Fehler im Passwort-Manager, der dazu führt, dass sich gespeicherte Passwörter u.U. nicht mehr abrufen lassen.
In Kürze wird die neue Version auch über die Updatefunktion des Firefox Browsers verfügbar sein.

21:28 - Autor: TiKuNach einer überraschend kurzen Entwicklungszeit von nur 5 Wochen wurde heute die Version 0.3.6 des freien Betriebssystems ReactOS veröffentlicht.ReactOS ist der Versuch, ein Betriebssystem zu entwickeln, das kompatibel zu Microsoft Windows ist, sodass sich Windows-Treiber und -Programme verwenden lassen. Einige Windows-Programme funktionieren auch bereits, z. B. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 und OpenOffice.org 2.0. Das Changelog ist wie immer sehr umfangreich. Zu den wichtigsten Änderungen sind sicherlich jene am Heap der Laufzeitumgebung (RTL) zu zählen, durch die sich mehr Windows-Programme nutzen lassen als bei den vorherigen Versionen.
Neben der normalen Weiterentwicklung werden derzeit große Anstrengungen unternommen, ReactOS auf die ARM-Architektur, welche vor allem in portablen Geräten wie Mobiltelefonen zum Einsatz kommt, zu portieren. Changelog in Kurzform:
- More architectures support: ARM version improvements, beginnings of x64 architecture support
- FreeLdr's memory requirements for ReactOS bootup were reduced
- Driver unloading now possible
- Numerous kernel fixes and improvements (APC delivery issues, timer issues, lots of work on architecture-independent parts of the memory manager)
- More Win32 applications are supported now thanks to the fix in the RTL heap implementation (e.g. InnoSetup-based installers, Delphi applications, etc)
- Network stack bugfixes and memory leaks elimination
- Win32 subsystem improvements, most of usermode DLLs synced with Wine
