Microsoft Edge ersetzt die eigene Browser-Engine EdgeHTML durch Chromium und stellt den “neuen” Browser über Microsoft Edge Insider für Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 und macOS zur Verfügung. Erweiterungen für Chrome bzw. Chromium können natürlich verwendet werden.
