IGEL Teams with AMD to Enhance Performance of UD7 Series

New optional AMD Embedded Radeon discrete GPU and the addition of a fourth DisplayPort enables the parallel use of up to four monitors at 60Hz, including two with 4K resolution

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 16, 2018 – IGEL, a world leader in endpoint security and optimization software for the secure enterprise, today announced that it is teaming with AMD to further enhance the performance of the IGEL UD7 series endpoints with the addition of a new optional AMD Embedded Radeon™ E9170 Series discrete GPU and a fourth DisplayPort. With these upgrades, the IGEL UD7 can now support up to four monitors at 60Hz, including two with 4K resolution and two with 2K resolution.

Part of IGEL’s family of Universal DesktopTM software-defined endpoints, the IGEL UD7 is designed for end-user computing (EUC) environments where high-performance and access to multiple, high-resolution displays is required. This includes video production and CAD design suites, newsrooms, operations centers and hospital diagnostics centers.

We are pleased to be teaming with AMD to further enhance the UD7, and to provide our customers with the option of selecting the latest AMD Embedded Radeon processor to power their high-performance, multimedia computing environments,” said Matthias Haas, CTO, IGEL. “As the most powerful endpoint solution in our portfolio, the IGEL UD7 is a virtualization-optimized endpoint that is simple to manage, while providing end-users across industries   from healthcare to financial services to manufacturing – with highly-secure access to their digital workspaces.”

Stephen Turnbull, director of Product Marketing, Datacenter and Embedded Solutions Business Group, AMD added, “AMD has a strong relationship with IGEL, and over the years we’ve helped them drive a significant amount of innovation for their endpoint products. The launch of the IGEL UD7 this year set a new level for high-performance, multi-monitor end-user computing. Now with the addition of an optional AMD Embedded Radeon discrete GPU, UD7 customers can improve the already existing high-quality, multi-monitor endpoint computing with even more high-resolution graphics.”

Ease of Management, Security and Flexibility for High-Performance Workspaces

The IGEL UD7 is managed through the IGEL Universal Management Suite™ (UMS), which provides IT organizations with automated backend control of their IGEL endpoints, freeing them up to focus on more strategic initiatives. Purpose-built to simplify complex enterprise environments, the IGEL UMS supports a diverse array of devices and operating systems and enables IT organizations to add and remove endpoint devices and perform software upgrades as needed or required.

Further, through the IGEL OS, IT organizations can future-proof their investments in the UD7 through regular software upgrades to the IGEL OS that include hardware acceleration, while at the same time enhancing the security of their endpoints by preventing malware and other cyber threats with Secure Boot validation.

The IGEL UD7 also comes pre-configured to support industry-leading virtualization protocols including Citrix HDX, Microsoft RDP/Remote FX or VMware Horizon Blast Extreme. Organizations can add or re-configure these supported virtualization protocols leveraging the IGEL UMS to quickly transition between protocols and make changes to their entire network of endpoints, or a specific endpoint.

Availability and Support

IGEL will demonstrate the UD7 series endpoints at DISRUPT EUC Las Vegas to be held Aug. 26–28 at The Border Grill at Mandalay Bay. For more information, visit http://prod.igel.local/disruptvegas/.To experience the capabilities of the IGEL OS, Universal Desktop Converter(UDC) and IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS), download here, or request free evaluation hardware.

IGEL UD7 endpoints can be purchased through IGEL’s network of Platinum- and Gold-level Partners, Authorized IGEL Partners (AIPs) and resellers. Each IGEL UD7 comes standard with a free extended five-year hardware warranty and includes a software license that provides access to regular and frequent firmware updates. This enables IT organizations to preserve their hardware investment while taking advantage of new features and functionality as they become available.
