The new con짯tri짯bu짯ti짯on brings the total amount of com짯pu짯ting capa짯ci짯ty dona짯ted by AMD to over 20 peta짯flops with a mar짯ket value of more than $31 mil짯li짯on, as of May 2022. The addi짯tio짯nal com짯pu짯ting resour짯ces will build on the AMD COVID-19 HPC Fund that was estab짯lished in 2020 to pro짯vi짯de rese짯arch insti짯tu짯ti짯ons with com짯pu짯ting resour짯ces to acce짯le짯ra짯te medi짯cal rese짯arch on COVID-19 and other diseases.

19 April 2021-Com짯pu짯ting hard짯ware manu짯fac짯tu짯rer AMD has dona짯ted 10 ser짯ver sys짯tems to the High-Per짯for짯mance Com짯pu짯ting Cen짯ter Stutt짯gart (HLRS) that will be dedi짯ca짯ted for rese짯arch rela짯ted to the SARS-CoV2 pan짯de짯mic. The new resour짯ces, which were deli짯ver짯ed this week, will also expand HLRS셲 capa짯ci짯ty to address future urgent com짯pu짯ting needs.

The dona짯ti짯on comes as part of the AMD COVID-19 High Per짯for짯mance Com짯pu짯ting Fund, which was estab짯lished in April 2020 to pro짯vi짯de rese짯arch insti짯tu짯ti짯ons around the world with com짯pu짯ting resour짯ces to acce짯le짯ra짯te medi짯cal rese짯arch on COVID-19 and other dise짯a짯ses. HLRS is among the first Euro짯pean HPC cen짯ters to recei짯ve a dona짯ti짯on under pha짯se two of this program.

The new AMD nodes will be inte짯gra짯ted into HLRS셲 Vul짯can clus짯ter. Each of the dona짯ted ser짯vers con짯ta짯ins one AMD EPYC꽓 pro짯ces짯sor and eight AMD Instinct꽓 acce짯le짯ra짯tors, which are opti짯mi짯zed for appli짯ca짯ti짯ons invol짯ving machi짯ne lear짯ning, deep lear짯ning, and arti짯fi짯ci짯al intel짯li짯gence.
