MAY 27, 2021 — The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) today formally unveiled the first phase of its next-generation supercomputer, Perlmutter. The new system, named in honor of the Lab’s Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter, will greatly increase the high performance computing (HPC) capability for a broad spectrum of unclassified scientific research within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science.

AMD Announces $4 Billion Share Repurchase Program
SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced that its Board of Directors approved a new share repurchase program. Under this program, the company intends to repurchase up to $4 billion of outstanding AMD common stock. AMD EPYC™ Processors to Power New System for National Supercomputing Centre Singapore

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) announced that AMD EPYC™ 7003 Series processors will be used to power a new supercomputer for the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore, the national high-performance computing (HPC) resource center dedicated to supporting science and engineering computing needs.
The system will be based on the HPE Cray EX supercomputer and will use a combination of the EPYC 7763 and EPYC 75F3 processors. The supercomputer is planned to be fully operational by 2022 and is expected to have a peak theoretical performance of 10 petaFLOPS, 8x faster than NSCC’s existing pool of HPC resources. Atos’s supercomputer to pave the way for Bulgaria’s leading position in high-tech
This will be the most powerful supercomputer in Eastern Europe and is expected to be operational in July 2021
Paris (France), Prague (Czech Republic), Sofia (Bulgaria) 11 May 2021
Atos today announces that Bulgaria’s new EuroHPC supercomputer, which is based on Atos’ powerful BullSequana XH2000 architecture, is now fully delivered and assembled at Sofia Tech Park in Bulgaria. Atos was selected to build Bulgaria’s petascale supercomputer by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), the hosting entity, and the consortium “Petascale Supercomputer Bulgaria” (PetaSC-Bulgaria) whose leading partner is Sofia Tech Park.

Xilinx Reports Fiscal Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2021 Results
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 4, 2021– Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX), the leader in adaptive computing, today announced record revenues of $851 million for the fiscal fourth quarter, up 6% over the previous quarter and an increase of 13% year over year. Fiscal 2021 revenues were $3.15 billion, largely flat from the prior fiscal year.
GAAP net income for the fiscal fourth quarter was $188 million, or $0.75 per diluted share. Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $204 million, or $0.82 per diluted share. SILICON WAFER SHIPMENTS EDGE HIGHER IN FIRST QUARTER 2021 TO SET NEW RECORD, SEMI REPORTS
MILPITAS, Calif. — May 3, 2021 — Worldwide silicon wafer area shipments increased 4% to 3,337 million square inches in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020, topping the previous historical high set in the third quarter of 2018, according to the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG) in its quarterly analysis of the silicon wafer industry.
