The SEC’s order finds that, during con­se­cu­ti­ve quar­ters in NVIDIA’s fis­cal year 2018, the com­pa­ny fai­led to dis­c­lo­se that cryp­to­mi­ning was a signi­fi­cant ele­ment of its mate­ri­al reve­nue growth from the sale of its gra­phics pro­ces­sing units (GPUs) desi­gned and mar­ke­ted for gam­ing. Cryp­to­mi­ning is the pro­cess of obtai­ning cryp­to rewards in exch­an­ge for veri­fy­ing cryp­to tran­sac­tions on dis­tri­bu­ted led­gers. SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 03, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) today announ­ced reve­nue for the first quar­ter of 2022 of $5.9 bil­li­on, gross mar­gin of 48%, ope­ra­ting inco­me of $951 mil­li­on, ope­ra­ting mar­gin of 16%, net inco­me of $786 mil­li­on and diluted ear­nings per share of $0.56. On a non-GAAP(*) basis, gross mar­gin was 53%, ope­ra­ting inco­me was $1.8 bil­li­on, net inco­me was $1.6 bil­li­on and diluted ear­nings per share was $1.13. First quar­ter 2022 results include par­ti­al quar­ter finan­cial results from the recent­ly com­ple­ted acqui­si­ti­on of Xilinx which clo­sed Febru­ary 14, 2022.

Buil­ding 12, the home of MIT.nano, will soon be named in honor of Lisa T. Su ’90, SM ’91, PhD ’94, chief exe­cu­ti­ve offi­cer and chair of the Board of Direc­tors of AMD. Su is the first MIT alum­na to make a gift for a buil­ding that will bear her own name. 

Lisa Su led AMD to its stron­gest per­for­mance in the company’s more than 50-year histo­ry in 2021, brin­ging to mar­ket seve­ral lea­ding-edge tech­no­lo­gies. She pre­vious­ly ser­ved in mul­ti­ple roles at Frees­ca­le Semi­con­duc­tor Inc., IBM, and Texas Instruments.

Su ear­ned bachelor’s, master’s, and doc­to­ral degrees from MIT in elec­tri­cal engi­nee­ring. She has recei­ved many honors inclu­ding two named for MIT alum­ni who were pio­neers in her indus­try: the Glo­bal Semi­con­duc­tor Association’s Dr. Mor­ris Chang Exem­pla­ry Lea­der­ship Award and the Robert N.
