IBM Cloud Selects 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors for New Bare Metal Offering for Compute-Intensive Workloads

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — 11/10/2021- AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) announ­ced today that IBM Cloud has cho­sen 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ pro­ces­sors to expand its bare metal ser­vice offe­rings desi­gned to power cus­to­mers’ deman­ding workloads and solu­ti­ons. The new ser­vers, fea­turing 128 cores, up to 4TB of memo­ry and 10 NVMe dri­ves per ser­ver, give users full access to high-end, dual-socket per­for­mance with AMD EPYC 7763 pro­ces­sors; a first for IBM Cloud in a dual-socket platform.

Der gest­ri­ge Mon­tag, 8. Novem­ber 2021, wird DATEV-Kun­den wohl noch lan­ge in Erin­ne­rung blei­ben. Die DATEV ist ein Soft­ware­haus bzw. IT-Dienst­leis­ter vor­wie­gend für Steu­er­be­ra­ter, Wirt­schafts­prü­fer und Rechts­an­wäl­te, die Buch­hal­tun­gen und Löh­ne ihrer Man­dan­ten über die Soft­ware respek­ti­ve Platt­form abwi­ckeln. Das war jedoch gestern nicht mehr mög­lich, ab ca. 10 Uhr Vor­mit­tag ging im DATEV-Rechen­zen­trum nichts mehr. HETZNER NOW OFFERING AMD EPYC™ 7003 SERIES PROCESSOR POWERED CLOUD SERVERS

Hetz­ner Online is now offe­ring six new models of dedi­ca­ted vCPU cloud ser­vers which are equip­ped with the newest AMD EPYC™ Series pro­ces­sor. AMD EPYC 7003 Series pro­ces­sors offer incre­di­ble per­for­mance and con­ti­nue to rai­se the bar for the modern data center.

In respon­se to high­ly com­pu­te-inten­si­ve requi­re­ments, Hetz­ner Cloud is upgrading and expan­ding its sel­ec­tion of dedi­ca­ted vCPU models with AMD EPYC 7003 Series pro­ces­sors. At the ent­ry level, is the new CCX12, which hou­ses two dedi­ca­ted vCPUs, for the afforda­ble pri­ce of just € 19.90 a month. From the­re, the dedi­ca­ted vCPU count increa­ses: the CCX22 with 4, the CCX32 with 8, the CCX42 with 16, and the CCX52, with 32. Micro­soft hat kürz­lich bekannt gege­ben, dass mit der Serie Lv2 nun auch AMDs jüngs­ter Ser­ver-Pro­zes­sor Teil der Azu­re Cloud-Com­pu­ting-Platt­form ist. Micro­soft hat sich nicht für das Top­mo­dell AMD Epyc 7601 ent­schie­den, son­dern für den mini­mal lang­sa­mer (2,0 statt 2,2 GHz) getak­te­ten, dafür aber deut­lich güns­ti­ge­ren AMD Epyc 7551. Letz­ten Frei­tag sicker­te durch, dass der ame­ri­ka­ni­sche Tele­kom­mu­ni­ka­ti­ons­rie­se Veri­zon bei sei­ner neu­en Enter­pri­se Cloud auf Tech­no­lo­gie von AMD set­zen wür­de. Heu­te haben bei­de Kon­zer­ne die enge Zusam­men­ar­beit, die sich bereits über einen Zeit­rah­men von zwei Jah­ren erstreckt, offi­zi­ell bestä­tigt. Wie bereits von uns ver­mu­tet, setzt Veri­zon ins­be­son­de­re auf die Ser­ver- und Sto­rage-Lösun­gen von Sea­Mi­cro, was seit der Über­nah­me im März 2012 eine Toch­ter von AMD ist.
